Eskişehir districts mark 105th anniversary of liberation

Districts in Eskişehir, Turkey, are celebrating the 105th anniversary of their liberation from enemy occupation during the Turkish War of Independence.

In Mihalıççık, Governor Dr. Erdinç Yılmaz issued a message commemorating the historical resistance following the Battle of Sakarya. He noted that while occupying forces burned villages and the district center on September 19, the local population's will remained unbroken. The Governor highlighted the role of Ali Metin Çavuş, an aide to Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, in rebuilding the local mosque.

In Sivrihisar, commemorations included a parade starting from Zaimağa Mansion and ceremonies at Hükümet Square. The event featured performances by the Ankara Ottoman Mehteran Band and local folk dance groups. Mayor Habil Dökmeci emphasized the responsibility of preserving the nation and the district's cultural heritage for future generations.
