Turkish regional liberation anniversary commemorations

Overview

Turkey continues to observe the 104th anniversary of various cities and districts being liberated from occupation during the Turkish War of Independence. In Manisa, festivities included performances by artists such as Merve Özbey, Ceza, and Kibariye. Mayor Besim Dutlulu honored local heroes, describing the struggle as being “crowned with victory.”

In İzmir, celebrations include official ceremonies at the Historical Government House with cavalry reenactments and SOLOTÜRK aerial displays. In Aliağa, official ceremonies at Cumhuriyet Square will include a photo exhibition titled “Kurtuluş'tan Cumhuriyet'e Aliağa” (From Liberation to the Republic of Aliağa). Other regional festivities in Edremit, Aydın, Kuyucak, İnegöl, Söke, and Turgutlu continue to feature parades, concerts, and traditional folk dances.
