Eskişehir launches video consultation system for physicians

The Eskişehir Provincial Health Directorate has launched a new digital initiative allowing physicians to conduct video consultations with one another via the Hospital Information Management System (HBYS). Utilizing the Ministry of Health’s secure internal infrastructure, the system enables specialists working in different hospitals to share findings, discuss diagnoses, and coordinate treatment plans in real time.

The application aims to improve healthcare efficiency and reduce the need for doctors to travel physically between facilities for temporary assignments. This is particularly beneficial for district hospitals facing specialist shortages, as it minimizes time and labor losses caused by travel and allows for more effective use of public resources.

A pilot implementation was conducted between Yunus Emre State Hospital and Sivrihisar State Hospital. During this session, nephrology specialists from Yunus Emre consulted with internal medicine physicians at Sivrihisar to manage patients at the Sivrihisar Dialysis Center. This remote collaboration allowed for immediate expert input, reducing the necessity to refer patients to larger medical centers.
