Turkey conducts school safety inspections and search and rescue training
Various safety and training initiatives are underway across different Turkish regions. In Eskişehir, police conducted extensive inspections of school surroundings, parks, and service vehicles to ensure a safe environment for students. These audits included checking 174 school areas and 148 abandoned buildings, resulting in the questioning of 578 individuals and fines for service vehicles with expired documentation.
In Hatay, traffic police focused on school service safety, inspecting 44 vehicles. Penalties were issued to drivers transporting students while standing and for operating vehicles without insurance.
Meanwhile, in Trabzon, the K-9 Debris Training Field has become a central hub for search and rescue training. The facility hosted personnel and 70 search dogs from 20 different institutions, including AFAD and various municipal fire departments, to improve disaster response coordination and live detection capabilities in rubble environments.
