Espacio Hidalgo loses political registration in Hidalgo
The General Council of the State Electoral Institute of Hidalgo (IEEH) has approved the removal of the local political party Espacio Hidalgo from the official registry. The decision follows a triennial verification process which determined that the party failed to meet the minimum required number of valid affiliations mandated by electoral legislation.
According to the IEEH, the party required 6,212 valid affiliations to maintain its status, but only 5,755 were verified as valid. While the party met the territorial dispersion requirement by having presence in 56 of Hidalgo's 84 municipalities, it fell short by 457 members. The institute noted that although the party was given a 30-day window to address inconsistencies in its membership rolls, it failed to submit the necessary documentation to rectify the discrepancies.
As a result of this resolution, Espacio Hidalgo loses its rights and prerogatives as a local political party. The party's representative, Romina Jiménez Bárcena, has rejected the determination and stated that the party intends to appeal the decision through the appropriate legal channels, questioning the application of triennial verification to a party that has only existed for two years.
