Esperanza Municipality Launches Youth Climate Action Fund
The Municipality of Esperanza in Argentina opened applications for the "Fondo Joven de Acción Climática," a competition that will award micro‑grants of up to US$5,000 to environmental projects led by young people aged 15 to 24. Backed by Bloomberg Philanthropies, the program targets initiatives that align with four priority areas: waste management and circular economy, green infrastructure and climate resilience, climate health (including dengue and heat‑wave mitigation), and sustainable mobility.
Projects must be presented by legally constituted groups such as clubs, schools or NGOs and be led by at least two youths. The mayor, Rodrigo Müller, said the fund offers a “great opportunity for our young people to turn ideas into concrete actions that improve the city” and highlighted its role in the local Climate Action Plan 2025‑2030.
