Esquel officials discuss regulating Uber operations

Authorities in Esquel, Argentina, are working to establish regulations for ride-sharing services following concerns raised by local taxi drivers. Rubén Álvarez, president of the Deliberative Council, reported that a meeting was held with municipal officials and taxi representatives to address the irregular operation of the Uber platform in the city.

Taxi workers expressed concerns regarding unfair competition and the legal complexities surrounding accidents involving ride-sharing services. In response, the council has committed to drafting an ordinance to organize passenger transport. The legislative body plans to consult with 'remiseros' (private car drivers) to ensure a consensus-based approach before the Executive branch presents a formal draft for review.
