Estevao faces playing time challenges at Chelsea under Xabi Alonso

Brazilian winger Estevao is facing limited playing time at Chelsea following the implementation of a new tactical system under manager Xabi Alonso. Reports have emerged suggesting the 19-year-old may be unsettled due to his reduced role, having played only 18 minutes across Chelsea’s first three Premier League matches.

The difficulty in securing minutes is attributed to Alonso’s preferred 3-4-2-1 or 3-4-3 formations, which utilize two attacking midfielders behind the striker. These central roles are currently occupied by Cole Palmer and the £117m signing Morgan Rogers. This competition complicates Estevao’s development, as Chelsea originally viewed him as a potential number 10, a position now crowded by established players.

Despite these challenges, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano indicates that Chelsea has no intention of selling the teenager. The club reportedly remains committed to Estevao as a central part of their long-term project, viewing him as a future superstar despite the current lack of consistent game time.
