Estonia launches Seeneekspress mushroom foraging guide

Elron and RMK have launched the ‘Seeneekspress’ map for the autumn mushroom season in Estonia, featuring over 30 mushroom forests, exhibitions, and events. The initiative aims to encourage nature excursions and promote sustainable travel by allowing foragers to reach state forests via train instead of cars.

The program includes an opening event on August 29 at the Rapla railway station, featuring an exhibition led by experts from the Estonian Natural History Museum. Throughout September and October, seven guided mushroom foraging trips will be held across the country.

Additionally, mushroom exhibitions will take place in Tallinn, Tartu, and Aegviidu. These events will offer curator tours, quizzes, and activities such as mushroom bingo. Experts from the Estonian Natural History Museum and the Tartu Nature House will also be available to help visitors identify mushrooms they have collected.
