Estonian car market sees significant growth in new vehicle sales
The Estonian new car market is experiencing a significant recovery following a sharp decline in 2025. According to Raido Rosenfeld, CEO of Elke Tallinn Mustakivi and Mustamäe dealerships, new car sales have grown by approximately 60% compared to the previous year's low base. This growth is primarily driven by demand for environmentally friendly hybrid models, particularly from Toyota.
While the market is rebounding, availability has become a challenge. Popular models and vehicles with higher equipment levels may face waiting periods of up to six months, with some deliveries potentially extending into next year.
In terms of electrification, the market share of electric vehicles in Estonia surpassed 10% in July for the first time, though this remains below the European average of over 20%. Rosenfeld noted that European Union CO2 emission targets and climate policies continue to heavily influence manufacturer decisions regarding available models and power sources.
