AFA suspends Estudiantes officials for three months

The Argentine Football Association (AFA) Disciplinary Tribunal has issued a three-month suspension to Estudiantes de La Plata president Juan Sebastián Verón, second vice president Pascual Caiella, and sporting director Marcos Angeleri.

The sanctions follow incidents during the Supercopa Internacional final against Rosario Central, where the officials entered the pitch without authorization to confront referee Darío Herrera. Herrera’s post-match report documented verbal aggressions and insults directed at him during the heated conclusion of the match.

In addition to the individual suspensions, Estudiantes has been fined the equivalent of 500 general admission tickets due to infractions committed by club authorities and delegation members on the field and in the dressing room areas. The disciplinary action comes nearly a month after the match, which ended in a 3-1 defeat for Estudiantes.
