Estudios Churubusco opens permanent film memorabilia exhibition

Estudios Churubusco in Mexico City has inaugurated ‘La piel de las películas’ (The Skin of the Movies), a permanent exhibition dedicated to preserving cinematic history. Located in Bodega A, the display features original costumes, props, furniture, and other objects used in productions filmed at the studios.

The exhibition showcases pieces from six specific films: Hidalgo, Morelos, El viaje de Teo, Obediencia perfecta, Macho, and Cadena perpetua. Director Cristián Calónico Lucio stated that this initiative serves as the first step toward establishing a formal film museum. To support this goal, a call for donations will be opened to directors and production companies interested in contributing objects from other films.

Space director Lourdes García noted that the project aims to rescue items that might otherwise remain in storage, emphasizing that cinematic elements are not disposable. The exhibition is open to the public Monday through Friday from 10:00 to 15:00. The studios also offer guided tours up to three times per week.
