Estudios Churubusco cinematic heritage exhibitions

Overview

To commemorate the 80th anniversary of Estudios Churubusco and National Mexican Cinema Day, the Mexican Secretariat of Culture inaugurated a photographic exhibition titled “Estudios Churubusco: 80 años de ser la casa del cine mexicano”. Located at the Indautor exhibition hall in Mexico City, the display features historical images from various national archives, highlighting the complex’s history since 1943 and its connection to iconic figures such as Pedro Infante and Silvia Pinal.

Following these celebrations, Estudios Churubusco inaugurated a permanent exhibition titled ‘La piel de las películas’ (The Skin of the Movies) at its Mexico City location. This exhibition focuses on preserving cinematic history through original costumes, props, and furniture used in productions such as Hidalgo and Obediencia perfecta. Director Cristián Calónico Lucio noted that this initiative represents the first step toward establishing a formal film museum, with plans to solicit further donations from directors and production companies.
