Eswatini proposes Special Economic Zone at King Mswati III International Airport
The Eswatini Civil Aviation Authority (ESWACAA) is inviting investors to participate in a proposed Special Economic Zone (SEZ) at King Mswati III International Airport. The initiative aims to transform the airport precinct from a passenger-focused facility into a commercial and industrial hub designed to connect local businesses with regional and international markets.
Key investment sectors identified for the SEZ include agro-processing, pharmaceutical manufacturing, cargo logistics, renewable energy, and waste management. The development seeks to leverage aviation infrastructure to support industries requiring efficient transportation and reliable logistics, such as cold storage facilities, cargo terminals, and freight-forwarding operations.
In addition to manufacturing and logistics, the authority is looking to attract projects in renewable energy, including solar farms, and waste management infrastructure such as recycling facilities and sanitary landfills. The goal is to strengthen Eswatini’s participation in regional value chains and drive industrial diversification.
