ETFs reshape portfolio architecture for Brazilian investment firms
Investment firms in Brazil are increasingly shifting their portfolio architectures toward Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs), redefining the role of active management. Suno Consultoria reported that it removed multi-market funds from its recommended allocations several years ago, citing that ETFs offer a more cost-effective way to achieve specific risk exposures and provide greater transparency for investors.
Nord Investimentos is adopting a more gradual approach, reducing exposure to traditional multi-market funds while migrating some individual equity allocations to ETFs. However, the firm maintains that Treasury bonds remain a viable component of fixed-income strategies.
Carpa Family Office uses ETFs to replace a small portion of active equity management, though its investment director, Pedro Lérias, noted that the current availability in the Brazilian market makes it difficult to fully replicate the wide range of assets and strategies typically offered by multi-market funds.
