Ethereum developers review 66 proposals for Hegotá upgrade

Ethereum developers are evaluating 66 proposals for the Hegotá upgrade, currently targeted for 2027. While the large number of proposals includes various ideas for account abstraction and gas pricing, the Fork-choice Enforced Inclusion Lists (FOCIL), also known as EIP-7805, is currently the only feature officially scheduled for the upgrade.

FOCIL is designed to enhance censorship resistance by allowing a committee of validators to create lists of transactions that block builders must include. This mechanism aims to prevent specialized corporate entities from exercising veto power over specific transactions.

In addition to FOCIL, researchers are exploring a suite of proposals intended to provide “native privacy” primitives. This includes Frame Transactions (EIP-8141), Keyed Nonces (EIP-8250), and Recent Roots (EIP-8272). If adopted, these tools could allow privacy pools to manage their own transaction fees and improve replay protection, reducing the need for third-party intermediaries to handle sensitive wallet activity.
