Ethereum Glamsterdam upgrade scheduled for Hoodi testnet

Ethereum developers have scheduled the Glamsterdam upgrade to activate on the Hoodi testnet on October 26 at 17:42:48 UTC. This follows the successful activation of the upgrade on the Sepolia testnet on October 6. While a date for the mainnet launch has not yet been set, the Hoodi test will allow developers to examine block production, state access, and gas changes across different clients.

Key technical components of the Glamsterdam upgrade include EIP-7732, which integrates the proposer and builder exchange into the consensus protocol, and EIP-7928, which introduces block access lists to enable parallel validation tasks. The upgrade also includes adjustments to gas charges related to creating and accessing network state, and the Hoodi gas limit is set to rise to 200 million.

In preparation for the Hoodi fork, consensus clients Grandine (version 3.0.0-rc.1) and Lighthouse (v8.3.0) have issued new releases. Node operators must ensure they have compatible updates for both execution and consensus layers, as well as beacon nodes and validator clients, before the scheduled epoch 132,352.
