Ethereum launches Glamsterdam upgrade on Sepolia testnet
The Ethereum network has launched the Glamsterdam upgrade on the Sepolia testnet, marking a significant step in the protocol's scaling roadmap. The upgrade aims to enhance network efficiency and throughput by introducing features such as enshrined proposer-builder separation (ePBS) and block-level access lists (BALs).
During the initial rollout on Sepolia, developers had to intervene to address a configuration issue with Prysm, a software used to verify transactions. The software required an update to correctly handle the increased capacity, which is intended to raise the limit for transaction processing groups from 60 million to 200 million units.
Following the successful testing on Sepolia, developers will move to the Hoodi testnet before determining a final activation date for the Ethereum mainnet. The Glamsterdam upgrade is considered a consequential development for the network's long-term scalability and execution validation.
