Ethereum launches Platåberget testnet for Glamsterdam upgrade

The Ethereum network has launched Platåberget, a public testnet designed to rehearse the upcoming Glamsterdam upgrade. Managed by ethPandaOps, the permissionless network allows validators, builders, and infrastructure providers to test the coordination between execution and consensus clients before the mainnet rollout.

A central feature of the Glamsterdam roadmap is EIP-7732, which introduces enshrined proposer-builder separation (ePBS). This architectural change separates consensus-block validation from execution-payload validation and establishes a Payload Timeliness Committee. This shift expands the critical path for block validation, providing the next proposer six seconds and other validators nine seconds to validate a payload.

Additionally, the review-stage EIP-7928 aims to introduce block-level access lists to enable parallelization of disk reads and verification. While these changes aim to optimize performance, they may impact gas estimation. Proposed changes include adjustments to storage write costs and account creation, which may require developers to re-evaluate transaction fee calculations.
