Bitcoin and Ether ETFs face nearly $1 billion in October outflows

US-based spot Bitcoin and Ether ETFs have experienced significant capital outflows in October, with combined net withdrawals approaching $1 billion. Bitcoin ETFs saw a major reversal on Wednesday, October 7, recording $484.9 million in net outflows, the largest single-day withdrawal since late June. BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) led these withdrawals with $207.7 million.

Ether ETFs have faced a sustained period of selling, marking eight consecutive trading sessions of net outflows. These funds have shed approximately $641.3 million since late September. BlackRock’s ETHA was a primary driver of this trend, recording $71.12 million in outflows on October 8.

While most major digital asset ETFs faced redemptions, XRP ETFs provided a notable exception, attracting $8.17 million in new capital. Despite the recent outflows, some analysts point to long-term institutional trends, noting that professional investors increased Bitcoin holdings by 1.3% during the second quarter.
