Ethiopian Airlines orders ten Boeing freighters

Ethiopian Airlines has signed a purchase agreement with Boeing to acquire ten freighter aircraft. The order includes eight high-capacity Boeing 777-8F freighters and two Boeing 777F models. Additionally, the airline has secured options for eight more 777-8F aircraft.

The agreement was signed in Addis Ababa by Ethiopian Airlines Group CEO Mesfin Tasew and Boeing Senior Vice President of Global Commercial Sales and Marketing Brad McMullen. The expansion aims to bolster the airline’s position in the global cargo market and support its recent growth, following a 16 percent increase in cargo transported over the past year.

Ethiopian Airlines currently operates a fleet of more than 140 aircraft, including twelve Boeing 777 freighters, three Boeing 767 freighters, and four converted Boeing 737s for medium-haul routes.
