Ethiopian Airlines to support Mozambique's airline restructuring

Mozambican President Daniel Chapo has announced plans to utilize the expertise of Ethiopian Airlines to restructure Mozambique Airlines (LAM). This initiative aims to enhance the national carrier's operational capacity and regional competitiveness.

As part of a strengthening bilateral relationship between Mozambique and Ethiopia, a new flight route connecting Addis Ababa to Nacala is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, October 27. The service will operate three times per week, marking Nacala as the third destination for Ethiopian Airlines in Mozambique, following Maputo and Beira.

The expansion follows high-level discussions between President Chapo and Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed during the 12th Tana Forum in Bahir Dar. Officials noted that the new air link is expected to stimulate trade, investment, and tourism, particularly in northern Mozambique, while fostering greater continental connectivity and regional integration.
