The United Arab Emirates has reached a major transportation milestone with the official launch of Etihad Rail's passenger services connecting Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Fujairah. Following an inauguration attended by UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the rail network began offering scheduled trips between Dubai and Abu Dhabi on September 30, 2026. The journey between the two emirates takes approximately one hour and four minutes, with tickets starting at AED 39 for Comfort Class and AED 109 for Premium Class.

In addition to the Dubai-Abu Dhabi corridor, the network includes services to Fujairah. The new Al Yalayis Station in Dubai provides connectivity to the Dubai Metro Red Line via a dedicated pedestrian bridge, facilitating easier transfers for commuters.

Separately, Etihad Airways announced an expansion of its international flight network. Starting December 15, 2026, the airline will increase its service between Abu Dhabi and Sydney to two daily flights. Utilizing Airbus A350-1000 aircraft, this increase aims to provide greater flexibility and connectivity for travelers between Australia, the Middle East, Europe, and Africa.
