Etimbuk Daniel dies at NYSC camp following allegations of fake medication

Etimbuk Daniel, the former Students’ Union Government (SUG) president of Akwa Ibom State University, has reportedly died at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp in Enugu State.

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has called for a thorough investigation into the circumstances of his death. According to reports, Daniel complained of a headache and was administered medication at the camp. His condition allegedly worsened after taking the drugs, and while he requested to be transferred to a hospital, the necessary approval was reportedly delayed.

NANS President Akinteye Babatunde Afeez stated that a doctor subsequently identified the medication administered to Daniel as fake. The incident has raised significant concerns regarding the quality of medical care provided to corps members at orientation camps and the protocols for emergency medical transfers.
