Vasile Tofan visits Gagauzia to address water and economic issues

Prime Minister Vasile Tofan conducted a working visit to the Taraclia district and the Gagauzia Autonomous Territorial Unit to address regional infrastructure and economic challenges. During discussions with local mayors, Tofan identified water scarcity as an urgent issue, noting that wells and boreholes in several localities are drying up. He also addressed the lack of a functional People's Assembly in Gagauzia, calling for free and transparent elections to ensure legitimate representation.

On the economic front, Tofan met with business representatives to discuss fiscal policy, taxation, and the reduction of bureaucratic barriers. Local companies, including Milina, Bas Steel Profile, and Banzai, highlighted challenges such as export delays caused by repetitive certification processes. Tofan emphasized the need for state support to increase competitiveness and suggested leveraging ties with Turkey to attract investment and create jobs.

Separately, Chișinău hosted the 25th edition of the Festival of Ethnicities under the theme ‘Unity in Diversity.’ The event featured traditional costumes, music, and food from 24 different ethnic communities, promoting peaceful coexistence and multiculturalism within the Republic of Moldova.
