Ettingen and Homburg host community sustainability and cleanup events

Local communities in Ettingen, Switzerland, and Homburg, Germany, are hosting events focused on sustainability and waste reduction.

In Ettingen, the annual Bring- und Holtag took place on September 5, 2026, at the old Werkhof site. The event, organized by the municipal administration's construction department, allows residents to exchange or give away well-maintained, functional items such as books, kitchen utensils, and games. To promote reuse, an entrance control was implemented to ensure only high-quality goods were accepted, while items like large electronics, prohibited lamps, and bulky furniture were excluded. A special collection for hazardous household waste was also available.

In Homburg, the city is participating in World Cleanup Day on September 19. Organized by Cleanup Homburg with support from the municipal administration and the Baubetriebshof (BBH), the initiative invites citizens to collect litter throughout the city. Participants will meet at the Saarpfalz Center Homburg to clean public areas, with the BBH providing necessary supplies and managing the professional disposal of collected waste. The campaign aims to raise environmental awareness and encourage more responsible resource management.
