Etu Energias to acquire Chevron stakes in Angola's Blocks 14 and 14K
Etu Energias, Angola’s largest private oil company, has signed an agreement with Cabinda Gulf Oil Company, a subsidiary of Chevron, to acquire significant stakes in offshore Blocks 14 and 14K.
Under the terms of the deal, Etu Energias will acquire a 31% working interest in Block 14 and a 15.5% interest in Block 14K. The transaction includes a base cash consideration of $260 million, with potential contingent payments of up to $25 million annually, capped at $250 million through 2038, based on oil prices and production levels.
Upon completion, Etu Energias intends to assume operatorship of Block 14, subject to regulatory approval. The acquisition is being financed through a debt facility provided by Shell Western Supply and Trading Ltd. The transaction is expected to close in early 2027, pending approval from the National Agency for Petroleum, Gas and Biofuels (ANPG) and other customary conditions.
Block 14 is a long-standing deepwater asset that has produced over 900 million barrels of crude since 1999. Block 14K includes the Lianzi field, which is a cross-border development project between Angola and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
