Turkmenistan Reaffirms Commitment to EU Partnership on Security and Development

At the 13th EU‑Central Asia High‑Level Dialogue in Brussels, Turkmenistan Deputy Foreign Minister Ahmet Gurbanov pledged to deepen cooperation with the European Union on regional security, sustainable development and connectivity. He highlighted political and diplomatic solutions, confidence‑building measures and multilateral diplomacy, and discussed joint projects such as the Trans‑Caspian Transport Corridor, renewable‑energy initiatives and education exchanges.

EU officials confirmed a series of upcoming high‑level events for 2026‑2027, including a ministerial meeting on connectivity and security on 16 November 2026, the Second EU‑Central Asia Summit in 2027, and the Global Gateway Forum on 7–8 June 2027. Priorities cited are digitalisation of transport procedures, customs modernisation, removal of trade barriers, and expanded cooperation in raw materials, energy, education and counter‑terrorism. Both sides reaffirmed the strategic partnership and a roadmap for concrete joint projects involving EU financial institutions and Central Asian states.
