EU Code Week 2026 promotes digital literacy and coding
The EU Code Week 2026 initiative is underway, aiming to make programming and computational thinking more accessible and inclusive across Europe. The event, coordinated by the European Commission, runs from October 10 to October 25, 2026, and involves schools, educators, and families.
In Italy, the initiative is supported by EU Code Week Ambassador Alessandro Bogliolo and HUB Coordinator Lucia Terrone of Fondazione LINKS. Schools can participate without ministerial authorization or specific budgets by registering activities on an interactive European map via the official website.
Educational activities range from kindergarten to high school. Examples include unplugged coding exercises, where children use physical movement and verbal instructions to simulate algorithms, and educational robotics using tools like Bee-Bot to teach sequencing and spatial orientation.
