EU Commissioner Magnus Bruner supports Montenegro's internal affairs and EU path
European Commissioner for Home Affairs and Migration, Magnus Bruner, has issued a message of support to Montenegro's Ministry of Internal Affairs on the occasion of Internal Affairs Day. Bruner commended the efforts of Montenegrin police and ministry staff in protecting citizens, upholding the rule of law, and defending democratic institutions.
The Commissioner highlighted Montenegro's progress toward European Union membership, specifically noting the country's efforts to strengthen police integrity and combat organized crime and corruption. He emphasized the continuous cooperation between Montenegro and the EU in critical areas such as border management, collaboration with FRONTEX, visa policy alignment, and the fight against migrant smuggling networks.
Bruner specifically acknowledged the cooperation with Deputy Prime Minister for Security, Defense, and Internal Policy Aleksa Bečić and Minister of Internal Affairs Danilo Šaranović, stating that these joint efforts bring Montenegro closer to EU membership.
