From July 1 to August 31 the National Tax and Customs Administration (NAV) will carry out intensified inspections at popular holiday spots such as Lake Balaton, Lake Velence and the Tisza River. Seasonal operators – including bike and boat rentals, wedding planners and flight‑experience firms – will be checked on receipt issuance, proper employee registration, product origin, excise goods and cash‑register compliance. Violations can attract fines of up to two million forints and may lead to a twelve‑day closure of the business.

NAV also reminded taxpayers of imminent deadlines. By June 30 individuals can request a five‑month, interest‑free instalment plan for vehicle tax, and companies must submit their 2024 global minimum‑tax return or face fines of up to ten million forints. Starting July 1 a new EU customs rule imposes a €3 charge on each type of good in parcels under €150 shipped from non‑EU online stores, applied per product category rather than per package.
