EU Emergency Response Coordination Centre manages global disaster relief

The European Union Emergency Response Coordination Centre in Brussels serves as the central hub for organizing responses to human-made and natural disasters, including fires, floods, and earthquakes. Operating 24/7, the center coordinates assistance among the 27 EU member states and several partner nations, including Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Iceland, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Norway, Serbia, Turkey, and Ukraine.

Since 2002, the center has responded to more than 900 requests for assistance. In 2025 alone, there have been 103 requests, with nearly one-third originating from Ukraine. Officials note that disasters are becoming increasingly frequent and long-lasting.
