EU mandates clearer labeling for foreign low‑price platforms Shein, Temu

The European Union is preparing legislation that will require foreign online retailers, specifically Chinese platforms such as Shein and Temu, to clearly label their products. The measure aims to make it easier for consumers to identify goods sold by these low‑price providers and to level the playing field for local retailers who have been pressured by the platforms' extremely low prices.

If enacted, the rules would force the platforms to disclose the origin and pricing details of their merchandise, potentially reducing the competitive advantage that cheap imports have held over brick‑and‑mortar shops across the EU.
