EU REACT project and INERATEC‑Zeopore collaboration push CO₂‑to‑chemicals technology
The EU‑funded REACT project (Renewable Electrochemical Advanced Conversion of CO₂ to Target products) is developing an impurity‑tolerant electrochemical process that converts low‑purity industrial CO₂ streams into ethylene, a key platform chemical. Running from May 2026 to April 2030 under Horizon Europe, the 48‑month effort involves a consortium of 13 partners from ten European countries, including SINTEF (NO), VITO (BE), Johnson Matthey (GB), Empa (CH) and others, and aims to deliver a functional prototype electrolyser powered by renewable energy.
Separately, INERATEC and Zeopore announced a collaboration that combines INERATEC’s modular Power‑to‑Liquid hydrocracking technology with Zeopore’s meso‑zeolite catalyst. The partnership targets the upgrading of Fischer‑Tropsch waxes into CO₂‑neutral e‑fuels and e‑chemicals, improving catalytic selectivity, activity and lifetime while reducing capital and operating costs. Both initiatives seek to turn CO₂ emissions from hard‑to‑abate sectors into valuable chemical feedstocks, supporting scalable, low‑carbon fuel and material production.
