EU sanctions hit Russian defence industry, shadow fleet and Navalny network
Ukraine’s president reported that Russian forces deployed nearly 2,000 strike‑drone devices, about 1,800 guided aerial bombs and 17 missiles against Ukrainian targets in the past week, underscoring the need for stronger air‑defence support.
The European Union adopted a new sanctions package targeting the Russian military‑industrial sector, entities involved in the so‑called shadow fleet that evades existing sanctions, several Russian propagandists, and individuals linked to the assassination of opposition figure Alexei Navalny. The measures add 34 individuals and 47 organisations to the EU list, including companies that produce drones and other weapons for the Russian army, two Chinese firms, and firms involved in oil and fuel shipments to Russia. The package also extends existing restrictions related to Russia’s illegal annexation of Crimea and Sevastopol.
