EU set to open Cluster 6 external‑relations negotiations with Moldova and Ukraine
The 27 European Union member states voted unanimously to advance the opening of Cluster 6 – the external‑relations chapter – in the accession negotiations with the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine. A screening letter confirming the analytical assessment of the candidates’ legislation will be sent, enabling the next negotiation phase. The official opening is scheduled for 14 July at an Intergovernmental Conference, with the EU Council expected to adopt a common position on 13 July.
In parallel, Moldova’s Vice‑Prime Minister for Reintegration, Valeriu Chiveri, met the EU’s special representative for the Transnistria negotiation process, Audronė Perkauskienė, to continue discussions on the latest developments and dynamics of the settlement talks.
