EUFOR concludes ‘Rapid Response 2026’ military exercise in Bosnia and Herzegovina

The annual multinational EUFOR military exercise, ‘Rapid Response 2026’, has concluded in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The exercise, which took place from August 22 to September 3, involved troops from 24 countries and demonstrated the capacities of international military forces, including special forces, medical teams, motorized infantry, and unmanned aerial vehicles.

During the final demonstration near Mostar Airport, participants showcased coordinated air-land operations. Luigi Soreca, Head of the EU Delegation to Bosnia and Herzegovina, stated that the exercise highlights the European Union’s role in maintaining security and stability in the region and its commitment to the country’s European path.

Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Minister of Defense, Zukan Helez, emphasized that peace and security are collective obligations and that the country must continue to strengthen its own defense capabilities through strategic partnerships with NATO and the EU. Following the conclusion of the exercises, EUFOR reserve troops, including Albanian and some Italian forces, have begun withdrawing from the country.
