EUFOR conducts ‘Quick Response’ military exercise in Bosnia and Herzegovina

EUFOR is conducting its annual ‘Quick Response’ military exercise across Bosnia and Herzegovina from August 22 to September 3. The exercise aims to test the rapid deployment and integration of reserve forces to ensure regional stability.

Reserve contingents from eight countries have arrived in the country, including troops from France, Hungary, Italy, Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, Austria, and Albania. The French contingent includes approximately 200 soldiers and 60 vehicles, with heavy equipment transported by rail and personnel arriving via military aircraft. Hungarian forces arrived via helicopter at Camp Butmir. Other participating nations include members of the KFOR mission.

EUFOR officials stated that the security situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina remains stable. The exercise is designed to demonstrate the mission's ability to reinforce its presence quickly and maintain interoperability among multinational units.

Separately, Matthew Palmer, the former US Special Representative for the Western Balkans, commented on regional security. He warned that incomplete integration into European and Euro-Atlantic structures allows Russia to exploit political and social divisions within the region.
