Eugenio Segura to lead Morena coordination in Quintana Roo

Eugenio “Gino” Segura Vázquez has confirmed he will not return to the Senate for an indefinite period, following his appointment as the state coordinator for the Defense of Transformation and National Sovereignty in Quintana Roo. Segura, who is currently on leave from the Senate, stated his priority is to strengthen Morena’s territorial structure and political unity across the state's 11 municipalities in preparation for the 2027 elections.

The appointment has faced criticism from federal deputy Marybel Villegas Canché. Villegas has questioned the transparency of the internal survey used to select Segura, alleging that the methodology and the companies involved in the measurements were not disclosed. She further raised concerns regarding Segura’s political background, noting his previous affiliation with the Green Party (Partido Verde), and suggested the selection process may have been manipulated to favor specific political interests within the state.
