EuroLeague seeks to acquire majority ownership of ABA League
EuroLeague officials have expressed interest in acquiring a stake in the ABA League, potentially becoming its majority owner. This development was a primary topic during a recent meeting between EuroLeague leadership and representatives of the clubs that own the ABA League.
The discussions are currently in an early stage, and a specific acquisition model or purchase price has not been finalized. The move is seen as a strategic effort by EuroLeague to secure its influence and expand its base, particularly in response to the NBA’s planned entry into the European market.
Representatives from Dubai and Cluj also attended the meeting at the insistence of EuroLeague, despite not being current owners of the ABA League. They are viewed as important long-term partners. The ABA League is currently owned by a commercial entity comprising 12 clubs, including Partizan, Crvena zvezda, Cibona, and Zadar.
