Europe hotel pipeline hits record luxury levels

Europe's hotel construction pipeline reached 1,736 projects and 255,976 rooms by the end of the second quarter, marking a 3% year-on-year increase in both developments and capacity, according to Lodging Econometrics.

Luxury and upper upscale segments have reached record levels, with 491 combined projects and 72,111 rooms in various development stages. The upscale segment remains the largest by volume, accounting for 400 projects and 61,639 rooms.

Geographically, the United Kingdom leads European activity with 263 projects and 39,011 rooms, followed by Turkey, Germany, France, and Portugal. These five nations represent 46% of the continent's total pipeline. London is the most active city, hosting 70 projects and 12,912 rooms.
