European car sales show mixed trends in June 2026
In June 2026 French professional used‑car distributors reported a 3.3 % drop in resale volumes, with first‑half transactions down 7.9 % to 1.044 million units and the B2C channel falling 7.9 % to 1.464 million. The decline affected most age groups, while cars less than one year old rose 25.7 % in the month.
Netherlands saw a sharp rebound in new‑car registrations, up more than 13 % year‑on‑year to 39,015 units in June. Fully electric vehicles reached 17,257 registrations, capturing 44.2 % of the market, up from 35.3 % a year earlier. Over the first half of 2026, electric‑car share was 36.5 % and hybrids 53.9 %, with Kia leading brand and the Tesla Model Y the top‑selling model.
French B2B vehicle registrations grew 4.28 % in June to 70,818 units. Private‑car registrations rose 7.02 % (44,444 units) while light‑commercial vehicles were essentially flat. Electric private cars accounted for 37.3 % of June registrations and 39 % for the first half of the year. Chinese manufacturers showed strong gains: MG (+141.4 %), XPeng (+121.2 %), BYD (+91.9 %) and Alpine (+155.8 %) all increased their market presence in the fleet segment.
