The European Commission has approved a 7.9 billion euro disbursement to Poland from the National Recovery Plan (KPO). This fifth request is part of a total 54.72 billion euro package, which includes 25.28 billion euros in grants and 29.44 billion euros in loans. The funds are intended for investments in energy, transport, healthcare, and digitalization, with specific milestones already met, such as the laptop voucher program for teachers.

Separately, Poland is seeking to access additional funds from the EU's 150 billion euro SAFE (Security Action For Europe) program. Deputy Defense Minister Paweł Zalewski indicated that Poland intends to negotiate for unused portions of the program's first tranche, which could amount to over 10 billion euros. These funds are currently unallocated because some member states' projects failed to meet the requirement that 65% of components originate from the EU, EEA, or Ukraine.

Poland has already secured 43.7 billion euros through SAFE and aims to use any additional funds for military modernization, including the potential purchase of transport or aerial refueling aircraft. The government has committed to directing 89% of these defense funds into the Polish economy and industry.
