European Commission transfers 2.86 billion euros to Ukraine for military defense

The European Commission has released 2.86 billion euros to Ukraine as part of the 90 billion euro Ukraine Support Loan. This funding is specifically designated for urgent military needs, including the procurement of drones, missiles, air defense systems, radar, electronic warfare equipment, and ammunition.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen noted that the support is critical as Russia continues to intensify air attacks on Ukrainian civilians and infrastructure despite a stalemate on the front lines. The current disbursement is part of a broader financial framework for 2026-2027, which allocates 60 billion euros for defense and 30 billion euros for budget support.

Since 2022, the EU and its member states have provided a total of 231.5 billion euros in support to Ukraine. Additionally, Ukrainian military intelligence reports that Russia plans to allocate approximately 177.4 billion dollars toward its war efforts in 2026.
