European Commission provides 2.9 billion euros to Ukraine

The European Commission has disbursed 2.9 billion euros to Ukraine to support public administration costs and maintain financial stability amid the ongoing war with Russia. This disbursement includes 800 million euros provided for the first time under the Ukraine Facility component of the EU support loan.

Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, stated that the funds aim to safeguard Ukraine’s financial stability and support investments necessary for future recovery. The aid is linked to Ukraine’s continued implementation of comprehensive reforms in strategic sectors, including the judicial system, financial markets, energy, transport, and agriculture.

With this latest installment, total EU support under the Ukraine Plan will exceed 32 billion euros. This total includes contributions from EU member states, partner countries, and funds channeled through the loan. For the remainder of 2026, Ukraine has access to 33.7 billion euros in financial support, which includes 29.3 billion euros under the Ukraine support loan and 4.4 billion euros in budgetary support via the initial Ukraine Facility.
