Europe marks European Day Against Human Trafficking
Various European institutions and organizations are observing the European Day Against Human Trafficking with awareness campaigns and educational initiatives.
In Italy, the Puglia Region is conducting several activities, including illuminating the Presidency Palace in orange and sharing survivor stories to highlight the fight against forced marriage and labor exploitation. In Poland, police forces are conducting educational workshops for youth to recognize warning signs such as deceptive job offers and internet-based recruitment.
In Croatia, police and the Red Cross held workshops for students in Rijeka and organized information points on Krk island to discuss risks like forced labor and sexual exploitation. Meanwhile, in Slovenia, the Confederation of Trade Unions 90 (KS 90) called for stronger inspections and victim protection following the discovery of an illegal cigarette factory near Lendava, which is also being investigated for potential human trafficking.
