Argentina inflation rises to 2.1% in July
Argentina's National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (INDEC) reported that inflation in July was 2.1%, marking an acceleration from the 1.9% recorded in June. This figure interrupts a three-month period of declining prices. The year-on-year inflation rate reached 33.8%, while inflation for the first seven months of 2026 accumulated to 19.3%.
The highest monthly increase occurred in the Recreation and Culture sector, which rose by 5%, driven by costs for tourist packages and cultural services. Restaurants and hotels followed with a 2.8% increase. Conversely, clothing and footwear prices fell by 1.3%. Core inflation, which excludes volatile seasonal and regulated prices, was 1.8%.
Regional data shows that the Greater Buenos Aires area experienced a 2.3% increase, while the Cuyo region saw a lower rise of 1.9%. The July data also dictates upcoming adjustments for social security; based on the inflation rate, the minimum pension will increase to $428,591.22 in September.
