European Energy secures £58.1 million for UK solar and battery project

European Energy has secured £58.1 million (approximately $78.5 million) in construction financing from Danske Bank for its Indian Queens hybrid renewable energy project in Cornwall, United Kingdom.

The project integrates a 68 MW solar park with a 47.5 MW/95 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) that will share a single grid connection to improve infrastructure efficiency. Construction on the site began in May 2026, and commercial operations are projected to commence in 2027.

The solar component is supported by a corporate power purchase agreement, while the battery storage system has secured a capacity market contract with the UK government. European Energy noted that integrating storage with solar generation creates more resilient and flexible energy assets.
