European foreign ministers warn of worsening Sudan conflict

Foreign ministers of Germany, France, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway and the United Kingdom issued a joint statement expressing deep concern over the ongoing attacks in Sudan, particularly in El Obeid. Repeated drone strikes have caused numerous civilian casualties and have led to acute shortages of fuel, food and water as the rainy season approaches and humanitarian workers are targeted.

The ministers called on the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) to stop all attacks immediately, to enable safe evacuation of civilians and to guarantee unrestricted humanitarian access. They also urged the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and their allies to de‑escalate the fighting and to respect international humanitarian law, requesting a coordinated response in the UN Security Council to prevent further bloodshed.
