European Head and Neck Cancer Prevention Week has commenced, highlighting the rising incidence of these cancers in Poland. In the Świętokrzyskie region, incidence rates have increased by 20 percent in recent years.

Medical professionals warn that symptoms are often mistaken for common ailments like colds or infections. Key 'red flag' symptoms include persistent hoarseness, difficulty swallowing, non-healing mouth sores lasting longer than three weeks, skin changes resembling pimples, and unexplained weight loss. Early detection is critical, as it can allow for curative treatment with minimal physical impact on the patient.

In response to the awareness week, selected clinics in Poland are offering preventive screenings. Experts also emphasize the importance of HPV vaccinations as a preventative measure against certain types of these cancers.
